Rykneld Sports Centre

Rykneld Sports Centre is a welcoming, community-focused facility located in Mackworth, Derby, near Prince Charles Avenue (on the historic Derby College site). Owned and managed by Derby Grammar School, the centre is primarily used by the school during the day. It is also available for hire by local individuals, teams, and clubs during lunchtimes, evenings, and weekends.

Sports Hall = 36 x 18.5 metres
2G Astro Pitch = 95 X 66 metres

Facilities

Indoor

Cricket – Two bays of indoor cricket nets with mats, plus a large area for skill practice and fielding drills.
Badminton – Five courts.
Table Tennis – Two tables.
Basketball – Four fixed hoops and two retractable roof-mounted hoops.
Netball – Full-size court.
Football – Five-a-side indoor court.
Fitness Suite – Ten stations, available on a pay-per-session basis or through a monthly membership

Outdoor

Hockey (2G Astro) – Full-size pitch with four goals for seven-a-side and eleven-a-side practice.
Football (2G Astro) – Suitable for five-a-side and seven-a-side mini football.
Please note: Full-sized football goals are not available, so the facility cannot accommodate adult fixtures.
Grass Pitches for Rugby – One junior-size pitch and one adult-size pitch.

Users must bring their own rackets for relevant activities.

Artificial pitch charge includes lights when required.

Bank Holidays CLOSED

During school holiday time the Fitness suite may be available to use during the day throughout the week. Please check with the centre first.

Please note, customers are required to use the website Pitchbooking to book the Sports Centre facilities and not OpenPlay as previously done so. This booking system requires customers to pay upfront for their booking and not when they attend the facility. If you require a block booking, please contact the centre to request a booking form.
