At Derby Grammar School, we believe that each and every child is unique and should be treated as an individual. We have invested significantly into a pastoral care system that can flex to meet the needs of all pupils who attend our school, meaning their personal safety, happiness and well-being will always be cared for.
One of our main strengths is our small class sizes because it allows for teachers and support staff to get to know their pupils well. We notice changes in their emotions and have the ability to act on this quickly. On the reverse, pupils have access to a small but trusted support network of staff who they know and feel comfortable with. These positive relationships filled with mutual respect is what makes our community so extraordinary.
All Derby Grammar School staff – teachers, supportive mentors and those in professional service are trained in child protection. This means any adult your child comes into contact with is fully equipped to provide suitable care and guidance. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Miss K Stebbings [email protected], is an important contact for families and pupils and can be called upon to support in a variety of situations.
