55% of all GCSE results in 2024 were grades 9-7
GCSE results day comes around every August and year on year, our pupils never fail to produce an excellent set of results.
Pupils at Derby Grammar School are celebrating their GCSE examination results today, with an impressive 54% of examinations awarded top grades of 7, 8 and 9. Overall, 93% of all grades were at 4 to 9.
Two pupils, Atri and Krishan achieved outstanding results, each with six GCSEs at grade 9 and three at grade 8.
Dhruv, Hamza and Thomas all achieved a full set of grades at Grade 7 or higher, with an impressive 14 grade 9’s between them.
Separate sciences, for all pupils remains a key area of success for the School. 30% of Biology entries were awarded the top grade of 9, along with 19% of Chemistry and 26% in Physics. Across all three sciences 60% of all grades were achieved at grade 7 or above.
German examination results were outstanding with 73% of all entries achieving grade 7 or above, and 20% achieving a grade 9.
“Pupils have achieved success in all subjects, but I am particularly proud of our German results as fewer and fewer pupils are opting to study a foreign language” comments Acting Head Paul Hilliam. “Our German exchange programme has been running for over 20 years and next year we are starting a French exchange. These sorts of opportunities are not available in most schools, but we think they are important as they have a big impact on pupils’ examination success”.
