It’s been a busy half term in the PR & Sport Department. Here is Mr Smyth’s round up:
There have been many noticeable achievements this half term regarding sport.
Our pupils have participated in 42 rugby fixtures across the school this year and we have competed in a number of ISA regional sporting events too:
- U16 ISA Midlands Rugby 7’s Competition - joint 3rd
- U15 ISA Midlands Rugby 10’s Competition - 4th
- U14 ISA Midlands Rugby 7’s Competition - 4th
- U16 Derbyshire Schools Cross Country Championships - Sam (Year 10) came - 2nd.
We have also had two guest speakers come into school to speak to our pupils as part of our sports scholarship programme. This is open for all pupils in the senior school:
- Kate Haywood - ex-Olympic, European and Commonwealth Games swimmer - spoke about her experiences, resilience and mindset.
- Derbyshire Institute of sport - spoke about nutrition in terms of fuelling before and after training/competition.
I am extremely proud of the achievements of our pupils outside of school.This term we have had the following:
- 1 x U11 Derbyshire County Cricket player
- 1 x U12 Derbyshire County Cricket player
- 3 x U15 Derbyshire County Cricket player
- 3 x U12 Derbyshire County Hockey players
- 3 x U13 Derbyshire County Hockey player
- 1 x U17 Derbyshire County Hockey player
- 1 x U18 East Midlands Performance Centre Hockey player
- 1 x U18 NLD Rugby player
- 1 x U11 Derbyshire Tennis player
- 1 x U13 Derbyshire Tennis player
- 2 x U15 Derbyshire Tennis players
We are looking forward to a busy Spring Term for sport, including involvement in the following regional and national competitions:
- ISA National U13 hockey 7-a-side championships
- Derbyshire County U15 indoor cricket championships
- Derbyshire County U13 indoor cricket champions
- ISA Midlands cross country championship
- County Cup U18 (tier 3) Hockey championship
