Mr Clark, PE teacher and Head of Blackton, will be volunteering at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games this summer, supporting Team England.

As part of the Central Operations Team, Mr Clark will be based at the University of Birmingham, but will be travelling out to other villages at Warwick University, The NEC (including its Welcome Centre) and Park Regis in Birmingham.

The main purpose of his role is to perform tasks which enable the smooth running of day-to-day operations – troubleshooting any issues and supporting the performance of the athletes in terms of game logistics.

Mr Clark will be heading to Loughborough University on Tuesday 12 July to get kitted out in the official Team England sportswear. Loughborough is also the venue for the immersion camp prior to the start of the games. He will then be in his Central Operations role from Sunday 17 July – Thursday 11 August.

This is not the first time Mr Clark has volunteered at a major sporting event, having previously held the following roles:

  • A Driver at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics
  • A CGA Assistant, supporting Sri Lanka in the Athletes Village of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games
  • A Driver at the London 2017 World Athletics

We wish Mr Clark the best of luck in his upcoming role – a fantastic summer lies ahead.
