primary School school trip and extra-curricular activities

Last Monday Year 5 set off to visit the Jamia Mosque in Derby. We had a very informative tour of the mosque and our guide gave us lots of information about the building itself and the Muslim way of life including prayer, the Qur’an and the Five Pillars of Islam. We then went to The Open Centre for an Asian food tasting. We tasted food from India, the Caribbean and China. In one of the activities, a blind tasting, we had to decide if the food was savoury or sweet and then we tried some exotic fruit. The children were brilliant at tasting all the food but not many were sold on the Jack Fruit!
