Our Primary School and Lower School pupils had a blast at our Instrumental Showcase with performances from our brilliant Music Department and Senior School musicians! They listened to a wide variety of instruments and genres, such as ‘Never Enough’ on the violin and viola, our Year 13 pupil Lydia with her beautiful performance of ‘A Whole New World’ on the flute and our Head of Music Mr Coley playing the saxophone and clarinet in a range of styles.

James, who has 10 years of experience playing guitar, gave our younger students demonstrations of the ukulele, acoustic guitar and electric guitar while Harrison’s piece, having recently completed his Grade 2, showed a contrasting style with some classical guitar. Our Year X pupil Owen gave a diverse assortment of performances; Seven Nation Army on the bass guitar and an array of demonstrations on the piano.

Our Brass teacher, Mr Eno, gave our younger students lively and exciting renditions of a number of pieces from jazz to classical with the help of George H. on the trumpet, who also gave a performance of a Calypso, and Mr McCrone on the trombone and drums.

Mrs Simpson also spoke to the students about the value and importance of Speech and Drama, as well as the impact communication has on our everyday lives and occupations.

Thank you to our amazing Music Department for their inspiring showcase, all their hard work and creating a new generation of musicians and performers!
