Outstanding GCSE Results at Derby Grammar School
20% of scores were the top grade 9, and 53% of all results were grades 9-7
Following a superb set of A Level results last week, we congratulate pupils today on an amazing set of GCSE grades. They richly deserve these high scores, and they are a testament to the resilience and hard work of pupils and staff over a very challenging period. This year pupils sat public exams to get these grades, and achieved these excellent results despite media speculation and often last minute changes to exam arrangements. Disruption to learning and teaching this year was minimal, and we are grateful to teachers for their individual, innovative teaching that blended the best of old and new styles along with their high expectations. Thanks also to parents who helped us maintain continuity of education through this challenging year.
Mr Logan said, 'This year group is truly 'the year who can'. They have maintained an unswerving commitment to their academic work, and focused on achieving the grades they need to take the next steps of their educational journeys. We look forward to welcoming them back to some very exciting opportunities in our 6th Form where they can expect a calendar packed with talks from inspiring speakers, and the chance to gain invaluable experiences outside the classroom serving the local community. Social events will help balance the high academic demands of DGS 6th Form life too as the school focuses on wellbeing as part of our superb individual pastoral care.'
