In January, a few days after their mock exams, four of our Year 13 Chemistry pupils volunteered to take an exam as part of the Royal Society of Chemistry's annual Chemistry Olympiad competition. This is the leading Chemistry competition designed to stretch and challenge Sixth Form pupils with exam questions written by a team of university academics.

The 2-hour paper takes pupils significantly beyond the A Level syllabus and encourages them to apply their knowledge and problem-solving skills to new, real-world contexts (with many of this year's questions focusing on topical issues such as E10 petrol and lateral flow tests).

We are so proud to announce that this was our most successful year in a long time, with two pupils achieving Silver (Masie Hollick and Ted Gushlow) and two students achieving Gold (Alex Magas and Jack Austin). This is an amazing achievement for these pupils and a well-deserved testament to their hard work and flair for Chemistry.
