In this time of national sadness, Derby Grammar School sends condolences to all members of the Royal Family.

This morning we paused what we would normally be doing this morning in our busy school to reflect on what the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II means to us. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service and constancy while all around her changed. She was the longest ruling monarch in British history, and her seventy year reign will be remembered for many times that period.

As the whole country will do, we have taken time to reflect in silence on what this event means to us. Derby Grammar School held a minute's silence at 0840, before offering pupils time to talk about what these events mean to them.

The flag will be flown at half mast during the mourning period, and Speech Evening will go ahead as planned, with changes to the order to mark the events of yesterday.
