This week has seen DGS pupils learning CPR – this life-saving technique is being taught by Year 12 pupil Jake, who has set the challenge of teaching all eligible pupils within the school CPR, as part of his EPQ project. This week saw Years 8, 9, 10 & 12 being taught, a total 104 pupils.

CPRThe importance of this skill can’t be underestimated, with more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK each year, with a survival rate of less than 1 in 10. Often children are in the house with only one adult, and this highlights the need for children to be taught CPR, as this invaluable skill could save a parent, grand parent, or family friend.CPR

Our boys thoroughly enjoyed the sessions, taking a real interest in Jake’s fantastic presentation and trying their practical skills.
