Hello, this week in UCAS and Careers we are all looking at aspirations.
Years 7, 8 and 9, (as part of PSHE) are using Morrisby’s “Fast Tomato” programme to think about their interests and skills. Morrisby are a leading careers advice service with more than 50 years experience in the field, and we use their software to build careers education throughout the school.
In September each year our year 11 pupils are given a career profile which is discussed with them during an interview with a professional careers advisor. It is increasingly important in a competitive jobs market to prepare our students.
Their careers lessons will build throughout their time at Derby Grammar to serve their particular needs. This will include CV writing, work experience opportunities and when they eventually reach the stage of applying to university, regular interviews with myself and their personal tutors to support with personal statements and UCAS applications.
This week’s links are for seminars designed to help parents “supercharge their children’s career potential” . These have been sent to me by a company called InvestIN who provide courses and virtual work experience.
As always, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need any more information.
