sixth form parent information event

Hello,

Some more welcome signs of change this week – let’s hope it continues –  with my first invitation for students to attend a live university open day at University of Derby on 3rd July. This information has been passed to our Year 12 students on their Careers Google classroom, so encourage your son or daughter to have a look – there’s other information there as well. (There’s a Google Careers Classroom for all of the upper years actually, if you’d like to get your son or daughter to show you…)

It’s a relief to start returning to normal, but the pandemic has also opened up some unexpected opportunities. This week for example, I was sent information about a whole host of virtual internships available to students. They are all with top firms such as PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) and law firm Clifford Chance, and are described as “Bite-sized 5-6 hour virtual work experience programs that give students a genuine career advantage with Fortune 500 companies.”

These aren’t your usual work experience programmes but they could give students an edge, with new skills and showcasing their skills to employers. They also get a certificate which can be added to their CV and LinkedIn profile. I have attached a link to their catalogue  please take a look at what’s on offer.

It’s really encouraging to see such prestigious firms offering this, so let’s take advantage of the opportunity.

As always, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or enquiries.
